Our cows are managed on native grass with mineral, salt and protein when grass needs supplementing. They must be able to maintain a healthy body weight and raise a calf on what Mother Nature provides from spring to mid November. In the winter they are on feed and protein supplement. A true no frills setting. They calve in the pasture. The cows are on an annual vaccination program.
We offer a small amount of replacement heifers annually. They will range from ½ Charolais x ½ Red Angus up to purebred Red Angus. They are selected on conformation, performance, maternal traits and disposition. They receive the same vaccination protocol as the bulls (see bull page). They are developed minimal grain and high roughage diet. Our feeding program allows natural growth without ruining feet and fertility. The heifers will be bred to low birth weight sires and continue to grow on native pasture.
